Umeå Arts Campus Research Days

December 7 - 8 2016 at Sliperiet

Open Up!

in Stage Box, Sliperiet

We invite all engaged in research at Arts Campus to join a two day workshop where we discuss and practice ways of sharing our different perspectives in order to OPEN UP for fruitful ideas, innovative collaborations and stimulating practices that can develop the research environment at Arts Campus.

The annual Umeå Arts Campus (UAC) Research Days is an event organized jointly by representatives of all institutions and departments on the campus that serves as a meeting place for everyone engaged in research at UAC, and for the variety of disciplines, problem spaces, and modes of inquiry they represent.

The intention is that through sharing our different perspectives and ways of working-ideas, practices, experiments, engagements, provocations-we might discover productive intersections that can spark innovative collaborations and develop the research environment at UAC.

In service of finding these intersections, the 2016 UAC Research Days will focus on sharing ideas and presenting our different practices to each other within a smaller context. In smaller groups we want you to OPEN UP and give each other a glimpse of your present projects and ideas with the emphasis on stimulating conversations, on your practice as well as on your ideas on how to develop the reasearch environment at Umeå Arts Campus.

In order to form work groups in advance, we request that participants submit a short overview or glimpse into their work and research interests. This can be images, other visual representations, and/or a short text. This material may also be used at the event itself as the basis for short presentations in small groups of present/past research or other issues in relation to each person's practice and competence. Groups will be asked to find ways to open up their own work to each other on the first day, but then to also find creative formats in which to present the group's process and conversation and how they have come to see and relate to each other's work. Through trying out and prototyping, we will work to start conversations and develop practices and infrastructures that can support ongoing engagement. We invite and challenge you, our colleagues at the Umeå Arts Campus: let's OPEN UP!
